Dear Students,
The time after Class 12th is for making one of the most important decisions of you life. It is most reasonable that you will be asking the above questions from yourself, and certainly many more.
Now is the time when you have to choose what to study and why. Now is the time to opt for a college or a coaching institute, to go for your passion or for pressure. This counselling session would be a starting point to search few such answers.
Often important career decisions are made in haste or without much evaluation. You are influenced by views of your parents, friends, relatives, teachers and the media. With drastic changes influencing the job market, and uncertainty transcending as an acceptable norm for the future, the decision on what to do is apparently extremely confusing. The Psychometric tests to check on your abilities, interests, aptitudes and personalities are not only impossible to understand, but have no evident professional authority to back their claims either.
One of the most common mistakes we commit is to mix up between education and career. You study to gain knowledge, to know things, to acquire skills, and to prepare yourself for future. A course or program is more like a more like a tool which is necessary for you, but is meaningless in isolation. Just having a sharp knife, or even knowing how to use it properly, will not allow you to build a ship, start a manufacturing plant, or to become leader of a large army. This requires the vision to understand all your skills and competence and to use it to perfection. A college is a place which develops these qualities. It is an ecosystem which systematically guides you towards understanding your competence and towards removing your limitations. A place which develops perseverance, grit and diligence in you; preparing you for your future. Choosing a right college is definitely the first step.
